GSL Medical College offers PG course in radiotherapy

The college is the first in the State, outside Hyderabad, to offer the course, says its chairman

Rajahmundry: Ganni Bhaskar Rao, chairman of the GSL Medical College and GSL Trust Cancer Hospital, has announced that Medical Council of India had given permission to them to introduce Post-Graduate course in radiotherapy, which is the first private medical college in the State, outside Hyderabad, to start such PG course.

Addressing media conference here on Wednesday, he said that GSL Medical College as teaching Hospital was attached with 100-bed Cancer Hospital separately in Rajahmundry and Kotne Sivasankar, popularly known as Kones doctor joined them as professor and head of the department of radiotherapy.
Dr. Sivasankar had served as assistant and associate professor and Head of Radiotherapy and Principal of Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, for three decades. He is one among four Indian doctors selected by World Health Organization to study developments in cancer treatment in USA.

Dr. Sivasankar expressed happiness over the equipment available with GSL Trust Cancer Hospital and said that it gave an excellent working environment.

According to Dr. Ananda Rao, Incharge of Cancer Hospital, said their cancer hospital had treated more than 12,000 patients till now since its inception in 1996.
